KL shares remain firmer mid-morning

Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained firmer at mid-morning today on further buying interest in selected heavyweights, dealers said.

At 11am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, which opened at 1,791.39, rose 3.08 points to 1,792.95.

Gainers led losers by 291 to 263, with 300 counters unchanged, 751 untraded and 30 others suspended.

It was mild trading with total volume at 543.75 million shares worth RM476.93 million.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index improved 65.78 points to 16,781, the Industrial Index fell 2.7 points to 3,083.96, while the Plantation Index rose 42.96 points to 8,723.29.

The FBM Emas Index rose 19.091 points to 12,494.73, the FBMT100 Index advanced 19.49 points to 12,216.38, the FBM Ace slipped 8.61 points to 5,732.11 and the FBM 70 was 16.779 points higher at 14,281.02.

Among actives, Berjaya Auto, which made its debut on the Main Market today, gained RM1.25 sen to RM1.95.

Other actives Sumatec Resources eased six sen to 41.5 sen and Tiger Synergy was unchanged at 27 sen.

For heavyweights, Maybank gained six sen to RM9.83, Axiata lost three sen to RM6.79 and Sime Darby fell one sen to RM9.50.
