Malaysia's consumer price index in October rose 2.8 per cent from a year earlier, still reflecting higher petrol pump prices after the government cut fuel subsidies the previous month, data from the Statistics Department showed on Friday.
The rate is the highest since December 2011 and above expectations.
A Reuters poll of 11 economists had forecast an annual inflation rate of 2.7 per cent.
