KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit closed slightly higher against the US dollar today on mild buying interest.
At 5 pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.2065/2095 against a US dollar, after hitting its highest level in two months at 3.2080/2110 yesterday.
A dealer said the stronger ringgit was in line with most emerging Asian currencies, a sign of improving global economy.
"However, the market was also clouded with cautious sentiments, fuelled by worries that the Federal Reserve will trim its stimulus," he added.
The local unit rose against the yen to 3.1080/1124 from 3.1097/1141 yesterday and advanced against the Singapore dollar to 2.5636/5668 from 2.5650/5692 Monday.
The domestic currency weakened against the British pound to 5.2683/2742 from 5.2499/2564 yesterday and fell against the euro to 4.4089/4137 from 4.3998/4048 on Monday.
